At Ashley Industrial Molding, Inc., we have the specialized expertise for molding strong, lightweight polymer components that support the heavy truck market. We manufactured a large quantity of the V-bracket shown here for holding an aerodynamic truck skirting. In addition to tight tolerance construction, it required the right balance between stiffness and flexibility to bend around a 24" diameter roll without breaking and then return to its original shape.
Utilizing our low pressure RIM equipment and a 4-cavity mold, we manufactured the bracket from Telene® DCPD, an impact, chemical, and heat resistant compound that would provide the low weight, flexure, and durability this component required. Secondary operations consisted of punching and trimming on a 2-up fixture. Measuring 5.5" in length x 24" in width, we achieved accuracies of +0.010"/-0.000" on all dimensions as well as the universal slot patterns. Additional testing confirmed we met the standards for flexural strength.
