HISTORY

Ashley Industrial Molding, Inc.

1975

The Plastics Division of Eagle-Picher opened a second plant in Ashley, Indiana. The original plant had been built in 1964 in Grabill, Indiana. The Ashley facility was equipped for compression molding of SMC material, class A paint finishing and related assembly work. Targeted customers for Ashley were the agricultural, heavy truck, recreational vehicle and industrial markets.

1997

The Plastics Division of Eagle-Picher, now consisting of plants in Grabill, Ashley and Huntington, Indiana, was sold to Cambridge Industries. This acquisition made Cambridge the largest compression molding company in the United States.

2000

After having filed for protection under United States Bankruptcy Laws, Cambridge Industries was acquired by Meridian Automotive Systems. Within weeks of the purchase, Meridian made known its desire to divest itself of the Ashley facility, in as much as that plant’s business was not in line with its core business of being a tier one supplier to the automotive companies.

2001

The plant management group purchased the Ashley Plant, becoming Ashley Industrial Molding, Inc, on July 31, 2001. The company offerings include design, engineering, packaging, material formulation, and molding services for the agricultural, recreational, construction, electrical, and industrial product industries.
